Merry Christmas Eve!

Hey everyone! First off, Merry Christmas Eve to those who celebrate :) I was thinking about doing a "Christmas Eve Vlog" on my second channel, but a video usually takes me a few hours at the least (all day at the most) and since today is my favorite day of the year, I decided to spend it with my family. Hope you all don't mind! I feel horrible since I haven't been uploading as many videos as I normally do, but like I said in my last blog post, you all have been so loving and supportive it makes me feel better. After the holidays I'm going to throw myself full force into my videos and it's also one of my top New Years Resolutions! To keep my channel on a consistent schedule of videos so there's never a big gap.

I think lots of people's favorite holiday is Christmas Day, but mine is actually Christmas Eve. (and my birthday!!!) Lots of families and households celebrate Christmas differently, but we have our big meal or "feast" on Christmas Eve, not Christmas Day. My grandmother ("Blah Blah" and yes, that's the name we call her to her face. Don't judge! LOL) is in town, but other than that we're just with our immediate family. I don't know why my extended family doesn't get together. I have friends who will spend Christmas Eve with one set of grandparents, Christmas morning with their immediate family, Christmas afternoon with the other grandparents, Christmas night with their Aunt's and Uncles... and so on. My family has never been like that. All of my extended family lives far away, the closest are a 6 hour car ride, and they go all the way to Istanbul, Turkey! So it's more stress than fun trying to get everyone together at once.

To me, Christmas Day seems like it's more about the presents. We wake up as early as 3 AM and run into our parents room, then we wait while they go "check to see if Santa came" while they make their coffee. Then they yell "OK girls! He left you a present, come see what it is!" And we run into the living room all excited. I go through my stocking first, then look at the main gift he left me. In my family, Santa fills your stocking, and leaves you one "big gift" but it's never wrapped, and everything else is from our family members wrapped and under the tree. After the initial excitement of Santa, Elle and I start distributing the packages to each family member. Then we take turns opening each present, and then eat breakfast, which is always moms famous egg casserole, which sounds disturbing, but is so delish! After breakfast, we all carry our presents up to our room then go back to sleep. When I was little, I was still too excited to sleep and I would stay up playing with my toys, but now that I'm older I understand why my parents always went back to sleep. 3 AM is early! We spend the rest of the day sleeping, eating leftovers, relaxing, watching a movie, but kinda doing our own thing.

This is why I like Christmas Eve better. First off, the excitement in the air is so thick you could cut it with a knife! Especially having a little kid in the household, it makes everything so much more magical. Christmas Eve is all about the excitement and being with the family and wrapping last minute presents (dad likes to get his gifts to us on Christmas Eve. Every year, without fail, he buys it on this day. That's actually where he is right now while I write this post!!! Talk about procrastination....) cooking, baking, eating, watching Christmas movies, listening to Christmas music. Chrismas Eve is just more "family oriented" than Christmas Day, and that's why I like it more! To me, the holidays are just about being with my family. I used to take it for granted more when I lived with my parents, but now that I've moved out I cherish every second I get to spend with them. Mom and dad are both off work during this time of the season and it's just a time for us really to bond and be together as a family.

OH! I also wanted to just touch on this really quickly. Lots of you are requesting that I do a "Christmas Wish List" and/or "Christmas Haul" video, and I just want to go ahead and let you know I won't be doing that this year. All I really wanted for Christmas was to be home with my family, and as a present I'm hoping for either a pink iPod nano, or a digital camera. I have a video camera, flip camera, and a SLR - but I want one of those small digital cameras so I can carry it around with me and snap pictures where ever I am. I've been using my phone, but I find I don't take that many picutres. I used to have a digital camera (RIP) and I would take SO many pictures with it! I want to start adding albums to facebook (my fan facebook is down at the moment because facebook didn't believe it was really me in charge of it.. but it is/was and it's being put back up soon!) So I'm hoping for a either the iPod, or a small hot pink digital camera. & I won't be doing a Christmas Haul cause I feel like that would be bragging and being like, "OMG look what my parents can afford to buy me!" Whereas, I only haul items I purchased with my own money so that I can show you guys that if I love it enough to spend my own money on it, you probably would too!

So I just wanted to do this quick blog post to say Merry Christmas Eve! This year has been the best of my life (so far) and I wouldn't change a thing. Thank you so much for giving me the gift of support this season and allowing me to spend this magical time with my family. I love you all and I can't wait to get back to doing videos consistently!

So tell me, how do you spend Christmas with your family? & What's on your Christmas wish list?

-B

Blair, you just made me so excited for Christmas morning! Egg casserole is what my mom makes for Christmas morning too! We call it breakfast casserole though.. So yummy! If you put cheese on anything I'll eat it lol! She makes two separate ones-one with onions and peppers and one plain with sausage- because when my cousins and I were younger we didn't like all of the green. Not sure why she continues to make two haha probably just used to it!
Have a Merry Christmas with your family!

That is exactly what my family does, for the most part, although sadly we can't have your moms famous Egg Casserole. But I always go through my stocking look at the present that is unwrapped that "Santa" gave me and then I give out presents to family, and yeah. I love Christmas! Merry Christmas, hope your family and you have a safe holiday!!

Christmas Eve we usually just hang around the house and cook, but this year we're having a mini Christmas party with me and my 2 best friend so we can exchange gifts and hang out. Then, on Christmas we get up early and open our presents. Oh! and we put on TBS because they do a 24 marathon of "A Christmas Story" and they just play it all day over and over so we watch it all day and finish up cooking. Then the day after Christmas we go to my grandmother's house and we eat dinner and open more presents. Sometimes on Christmas Eve we go to Midnight Mass, which is just a church service at midnight, but we're not going this year because I'm sick. But, I love Christmas and spending time with my family because both of my parents are not working and it's just so fun! haha (: oh and I wanted to thank you soooo much for following my boutique! It made me so happy haha (:

What I like most about you are your genuineness and kindness. The beauty world can sometimes be superficial, but when you film videos and write blogs, your true caring self shines through and that's wonderful. Like you've said in the past, make-up and fashion accessories enhance each person's natural looks, but the warmth and kindness you have in your heart really shine through and make your videos a pleasure to watch. Your passion for the beauty world is quite contagious! Love watching your videos. Merry Christmas! Anne

Hey!
First off, Happy Birthday! (:
Second, I actually don't make Christmas a big deal. We (my small family & I) don't do much anything on Christmas Eve, and only a few minor celebratory things on Christmas Day. Don't take me wrong, Christmas is by far an amazing time of year. My family is low key, and we don't do much in the small town I'm in. I'm like you, Christmas is just a time to be happy, and get the people you love most to be near.
-Best wishes & I love your videos! (:

Hey Blair!!! Merry Xmas to you and Elle!!! My Xmas eve is quite different I guess. First of all I am from Lithuania. I am catalic and we follow some traditions as most of us do here. Its non working day and eveyrone starts preparing from Xmas even in advance! Like minimum 3 days! Xmas eve tradition is to have 12 meals on the table, but it can't be any meat, eggs, milk or anything like that. So its mostly fish and some other traditional meals I can't explain, but we MUST have 12 meals at least. Ussually we celebrate with grandparents:) it is said to be a dinner we should be thankful for what we have and we should be calm,no celebration or dances! Just dinner with candles, little pray before that. Now then I am oldwe we exchange gifts on Xmas eve;) I wonder if someone has the same Xmas eve???!:)

Hi, Blair! I totally understand why you don't want to make that video. Although, a haul video would be fun to watch. Christmas Eve and Day are both equally exciting. Christmas Eve was the day I opened presents with my Daddy (RIP... the 15 years I had with him wasn't enough). So, we opened with my grandma today (his mom.. who I live with). My sister and bro-in-law came over, we had pizza, and gave my gma her gifts, and vice versa. Tonight, I am going to my grandfather's for Christmas Eve Supper. We are then going to a candle light church service which starts at 10 PM. I will then come back to my granny's, go to bed, and wake up in the morning. When up, I will go across our farm (literally) to my mom's house. I will open presents there. Then, I am going to my sister's in laws house for a Christmas brunch. After that, I come home, look at my presents again, and I organize them. I then have Christmas supper (cooked by mom) at my Grandpa's! Busy, busy! Merry Christmas to you, Elle, and the rest of your family!

Christmas eve was my favorite day when I was little, but now i like christmas a little more. I still love christmas eve though! On christmas eve my famil wakes up and pretty much watches chrsitmas movies, wrappes presents, does last minute shopping, and then comes home and opens one present each.( which is usually pajamas or a christmas book to read that night before bed)After that we just sit around drinking hot chocolate and being excited. On christmas morning we usually wake up at 8 A.M. and open our present. Then we eat our christmas breakfast(cinnamon rolls) and play with our presents. Then we watch rudolph. At 4 oclock the grandmas/aunta/cousins etc. come over for christmas dinner ( which is usually a huge buffet of ham, homemade macaroni, cornbread, mashed potatoes, corn pudding, greenbean casserole, sweet potatoes, pasta salad, homemade spaghetti and meat balls, and whatever else the family brings). Then we go to bed and about two days later my sister and I go to Maine to visit my dad for new years! :)

FashionTally said...

I totally agree! I never reall thought about it that way before, but Christmas Eve is such a great day! Everyone is all excited and happy. On Christmas, the excitement wears off the moment that you realize that you've unwrapped all of the presents.

Then Christmas day we get up really early obviously haha and me and my Sister open presents from 'Santa' and then unfortunatley i have to go to work.. but when i get home we open presents from family and friends and then have our big dinner follwed by watching all the good Christmas Tv! Then boxing day i me and my Sister go to my Dads & his Girlfrends house with her two boys and have like party food and exchange presents there!! I pretty much know what im getting this year - well i know my mum is getting me this Pauls Boutique bag ve wanted for ages.. http://www.pauls-boutique.com/default.aspx?scid=1&pid=659 You might like them Blair! Hey Blair Girl

I just wanted to say I hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your family and don't worry about not posting videos as you are very faithful at doing your videos all year long and you deserve to have a mini vacation from posting videos and spending that time with your family. Christmas eve is real special in my family as my Mom and I and My Aunt spend the part of the day cooking together and visiting while my Dad works on our Family Christmas letter and our Little Girl Dog either stays in the kitchen with us ladies and cleans up our messes on the floor or goes in the other room with my
Dad while he works on the letter. Then we go to Christmas eve services at our church in the evening and afterwards we drive around and look at beautiful Christmas lights on houses. Then we come home and eat the big meal that we made and the desserts. this year I am sick and can not eat. Then we open the present that Santa left which was a really good Christmas movie called the Christmas Hope. Then we go to bed and wait for Christmas day which is Jesus's birthday that we celebrate. Then we wake up and eat breakfast and then we open our gifts and watch the Christmas day parade and then start cooking again the big Christmas day meal. Then after our meal we all take a nap. Christmas is wonderful in my family also and I love being with my family too. May you and your Family have a very Wonderful and Peaceful Christmas and a very Super New year.
